Girl Scouts

Massie Heritage Center offers 4 specially-designed Trooptivities. These patch-earning programs for Girl Scouts allow individual scouts or troops to have fun while learning about Savannah’s history, urban plan design, or architecture. Each Trooptivity has its own unique patch and is offered in guided and self-guided formats.

Program Descriptions

  • Daisy's Savannah

​          Discover how Daisy's neighborhood influenced the founding of Girls Scouts and the creation of the first Girl Scout Handbook.

          This Trooptivity is ideal for older scouts and for those who like to pack in a lot of activities.

  • Go (Way) Back to School

          Experience school life in the mid-1800's, when Daisy was a young student. This program is conducted in Massie's historic 1856  classroom where you will practice the “Three R's," write on slate​boards, and explore Massie's history as school.

          This Trooptivity is our most popular Girl Scout activity for all ages. It is also our only fully-indoor Scout program.

  • Visit Ancient Greece

          Explore Savannah's classically inspired architecture during a scavenger hunt that takes you from Massie to Forsyth Park. Learn to identify important architectural features that you'll find on your scavenger hunt and earn your Architecture patch.

          This Trooptivity is for those who like to discover things most people don’t notice on their outings.

  • Find Your Place

          Find your bearings in Massie's City Plan exhibit before venturing out through four squares in the Historic District. You will see monuments, historic homes, learn about historical events.

          This Trooptivity is great for groups that are interested in an overview of Savannah and being taught how navigate downtown.

 

Program Details and Pricing

All 4 of our Trooptivities can be enjoyed with or without a Massie guide.  

Guided Trooptivities: 

          Have a Massie guide lead your group for 90-minutes with our popular interactive programs. Guided programs:

  •           must be booked 2 weeks or more in advance by calling (912)395 -5070 (weekends and holidays are subject to availability).
  •           must have 5 or more in your group (adults and children) to be eligible for a guide.
  •           are subject to municipal tour ordinances of the City of Savannah. If group is over 30 guests a 2nd guide must be booked.

    Cost: $18 each person. Includes: patch, program materials, admission to Massie and guide.  All guests for guided tours are considered participants in the program.

Self-guided Trooptivities: 

         This option is great for small groups and those that like more time to do their programs. The patch and activities for the programs are the same as the guided options. Self-guided programs:​

  •           ​for groups with 1-4 participants, packets are available for purchase in Massie’s gift shop during regular museum hours.
  • ​          for groups of 5 or more or to purchase multiple programs, call (912) 395-5070 to have your packets pre-arranged for you and to              ensure available materials. 

    Cost: $12 each person (includes patch and cost of program materials).
